The IPO: a new adventure for entrepreneurs
Among the exit scenarios for the founder, the sale of his or her business — or exit — is perceived as the most natural outcome: you raise, you develop, you sell. A well-defined trajectory, circumscribed over time, which remains a real marker of success in the Tech ecosystem.
But exiting — and leaving the company — is not only a culmination. It is also the end of an entrepreneurial cycle, for an entrepreneur who has devoted several years to his project.
Today, the French Tech ecosystem has reached maturity. In a few years, driven by public structures such as the BPI and by private investment funds, it has experienced a strong acceleration, as evidenced by the recent increase in financing rounds: 7 of the 15 largest raised since 2015 took place in the first half of 2021.
Driven by the digital transformation linked to the pandemic, Tech entrepreneurs have gained confidence: they have proven their ability to offer innovative solutions in line with market needs, to successfully cross each stage of growth and to become references at the national and European levels. The ambition of Tech entrepreneurs in France no longer needs to be demonstrated: they think big and want to be long-term.
To do this, they need all forms of financing. That's why The Galion Project is publishing this IPO guide. Public procurement still draws a lot of received ideas and for some represents a poorly known area, subject to too many hazards. A model that would, in short, remain the preserve of large industrial groups.
By drawing on the experience of Galleon members and entrepreneurs who have entered the markets, and by analysing the advantages and disadvantages of listing, our ambition is to open up the range of possibilities for entrepreneurs even more widely. To make them better aware of the world of listed companies and its advantages, beyond access to financing.
Showroomprive, Criteo or Talend a few years ago, Believe, Aramis yesterday, and tomorrow Colis Privé and OVH show that Tech has its full place in public procurement. Especially since the stock market is now showing a strong appetite for Tech values and the public authorities are firmly committed to supporting this movement.
French and European Tech is showing that it has a place to take in the world: sky is the limit!
